Taichung City Government promotes environmental education program in 2018’ is to promote environmental education by organising environmental education activities, such as outdoor learning and experiential activities, to promote environmental protection concepts and policies and to enhance people's environmental literacy.
The results of the implementation of the program were very fruitful, as described below:
1.The theme of the Taichung Environmental Education season is "Fun and learn through environmental education in spring and summer" . A total of 12 events in the "Earth Day and World Environment Day" ,their topics include food agriculture education, plastic-free oceans, Leopard Cat Conservation, green consumption, energy-saving carbon reduction, air pollution prevention and control. And we are also supporting the Earth Day theme-Protect our Species and World Environment Day-Air Pollution. More than 1,600 people showed up for these events, and the response was overwhelming.
2.A total of 317 people took part in 10 hands-on environmental education activities, dealing with topics including Aquaponics, Air Pollution Control, Plastic-Free Ocean, Food Agriculture Education, and Ecological Conservation.
3.A total of 639 people participated in outdoor learning activities at environmental education facilities. The locations include Dongshih Forest Garden, Baozhilin - Abandoned Furniture Recycling Cente, Fantasy Kids, National Museum of Natural Science, Gaomei Wetland, Wastewater Treatment Plant in Taichung Park and Dakeng Ecological Park.
4.A total of 487 people rode bicycles to explore the environment and learn about environmental protection. Locations include Wufeng District, Waipu District, Da’an District, Qingshui District, Dadu District and Gaomei Wetland.
5.We coached 70 units to comply with The Environmental Education Act. A total of 434 participants attended 10 seminars on system operation and environmental education activity design.
6.A total of 350 people participated in the preliminary stage of the environmental knowledge competition, and led the players to participate in the national finals, and won the first place in the junior middle school group.
7.A total of 235 people participated in the environmental education resource inventory held in the Wuguang and Guangming in Wuri District, the Zhongkeng and Daguan in Heping District.
